A couple of decades ago, we had so many devices around our homes that could do all kinds of things. They’d make life around the house so much easier.
Now we have Alexa, which is like all those things combined.
My video below will show how you can setup the sleep timer on the Alexa Devices easily.
It can be your little computer, give you all kinds of updates about what’s going on in the world, and so much more.
But, it can also be something as simple as a radio, or your personal alarm clock. If you use Alexa as a clock but want to know how to make an alarm harder to turn off, keep on reading.
How To Make An Alarm Harder To Turn Off On Alexa
Alexa offers so much convenience. I mean, I just mentioned how compact and feature-filled is, with things from simple as alarm clocks to things as advanced as being a tiny computer.
But, this can be a little too much convenience when you’re using it as an alarm clock. That’s because early morning laziness really gets us all, and it can be way too tempting to just tell Alexa to shut up.
Alarms can be turned off with a simple little voice command. While that seems really nice when you’re sleepy and want to keep laying in bed, it doesn’t seem so good when you miss the bus to school or when you’re late for work.
So, if you want to know how to make alarms harder to turn off on Alexa, there are a few tricks that can come in handy.
The most old school way is to setup multiple alarms at once, or make it vibrating.
Luckily, you can ask the Alexa to list all current active alarms and cancel all of them together with a single command as shown in my video below:
Besides, I also show you how to create alarm routine on Alexa device.
Use Routines
You can use routines to play lots of alarms within a small time. That should help fight laziness.
- Open your Alexa app and go to More.
- Navigate to the Routines section.
- Create a new routine by clicking the Plus.
- Add an action: “Device Settings” followed by “Volume.” Crank that up to ensure you hear every alarm that comes.
- Next, set multiple alarms at intervals. 6:00 am, 6:02 am, 6:04 am… you get the drift. This way, if you turn one off, another’s waiting just around the corner.
Mute Alexa’s Mic
You can just turn the mic off on your Alexa before going to bed. That way, it’s hard to use the voice commands and turn it off in the morning.
It’s a great way to make sure it’s not too easy for you to make the device quiet down and fall back to bed. You won’t be able to turn the alarm off without moving yourself a bit, which should be enough to keep you up.
Put Alexa Far Away
A sure fire way to force yourself up is to set Alexa’s alarm volume all the way up. Then put it across the room or something before going to bed.
Then just turn the mic off and put it far away in another corner of the room.
That’s a great way to make sure it annoys you awake. It’ll force you to walk all the way to the Alexa to turn it off.
