To replace the pump, or deal with any other drain issue on your Electrolux front-load washer, you remove the top cover first. This grants access to internal components beneath the exterior shell.
Removing the outer shell is easy enough, you simply start by gently detaching the control console panel from the rest of the unit. Once the console has been removed, you then remove the front door panel too (this hides what’s going on inside).
Disconnecting the pump assembly
Now that the panels are off, you get a good look at what’s inside the unit, which includes the pump assembly in the lower-right corner of this view.
Once the front is opened up, it’s easy to find the component. Having such clear access makes for efficient repair work, so you are ready to disconnect whatever was attached to it next.
Remove all electrical connectors from the pump terminals. After this step, the pump is completely isolated from the rest of the system.
Next, pull apart your hose fittings. Make sure to remove all water supply and drain hoses first, as whatever is in them will now drain out.
At this point, safety is still important. After disconnecting it, remove the pump assembly from the housing and take a look at the dual motor pump inside.
This is particular to some Electrolux models. The two pumps has a single housing with two independent drain motors attached.
It looks like a solid design but also fairly complicated. With the double arrangement, there are some definite upgrade options. Maybe one motor went out and not the other, so you could of just buy that part. Or do you get a whole new pump module?
Get your exact model number and confirm what will work prior to ordering as that is an important consideration in this type of repair.
Once you have the new part in hand, you will want to get right to work on reassembling it. First, reattach your hoses tightly to their fittings on the pump. Then, plug the wiring back into its connectors snugly. It must go back together just like how you found it.
This is not a break in the rhythm.
Make sure to check all of your hose connections are secure and tight after you reconnect everything, this is a really important step as a leaky connection will cause water damage when washing again in the future. They’re also essential for proper pump function.
This is where attention to detail matters. The repair complete once all components is secured back in place and the panels are reinstalled.
Check for leaks and ensure everything is tight, then reinstall the panels and you’re done! This maintenance task fixes your problem of excess water from draining; your washer continue working as normal. It is a simple fix with big results and is well worth the hassle.
