Your Dyson air purifier remote won’t respond anymore. It is frustrating because you use it to control airflow settings from across the room, you suspect something simple and begin to check most common causes of signal loss.

Inspecting the internal receiver

Don’t guess on this one, other batteries may appear similar (same shape and all), but don’t fool yourself by thinking that a CR2016 will suffice. Although it looks right, it probably won’t work because the physical fit won’t be right, nor will the voltage. This results in bad contact inside slot.
Replaced that battery and put it in its assigned place. Closed the cover and made certain it had a solid contact.
Fresh batteries may not deliver juice properly if metal contacts are corroded or dirty. Avoid any signal problems later by double-checking polarity and making certain you have correct type of battery going in the correct way.
Once you verified that the remote was getting power, you switched focus to purifier unit itself. With a fresh battery and still no luck, the remote likely wasn’t inside this unit.
A problem might exist with receiver component on the inside of device. This part of machine is responsible for receiving infrared signal sent from handheld controller. When it isn’t working properly, the commands never make their way to main processor board located within.
Now that you went through the troubleshooting steps, you looked at interior of receiver area. That is what sends your command to appliance and receives them back.
When the receiver is bad, it means you’re going to need a new unit or someone to come out and fix it because changing the batteries won’t do any good if it doesn’t hear anything you say in first place.
It can take some time to figure out if your remote isn’t working because of a hardware issue or a battery problem. Before jumping to the worst case scenario that your internal hardware is busted, you should of tried easy tests first.
By simply changing the power source for your remote, you’ve saved yourself time and money from replacing or fixing parts that didn’t need it, and your remote now works again.
