This is the Xiaomi 22L dehumidifier. It’s big. It is very big. It takes moisture out of air, though it doesn’t do that job very well (it has a decent efficiency rating).
It stands on your floor. You can put it next to a drain and stick it in a tiled room. It’s simple and cylindrical (it doesn’t try to hide what it’s doing).
Performance and Usability
The setup process is simple, too. Plug it in, look at the screen. The display show current humidity levels clearly.
The interface relies on touch-sensitive buttons and a display that shows the current humidity level. There are four icons: one for power, one to change modes, another for settings, and another for a target setting. That’s it… No complex menu system required; simply tap what you want.
There are three operating modes you can try out. The default (for general usage) is auto mode, which will adjust the fan speed based off the current humidity level.
For quieter operation in your bedroom, there’s sleep mode that keeps the fan running at a lower speed. And dry cloth mode cranks up the fan to full speed, this is useful if you need to dry out some damp air as soon as possible.
You can test the three available operating modes.
After doing some laundry, Dry Cloth mode’s nice. For regular day-to-day upkeep, use Air mode. In the bedroom, Sleep mode won’t keep anyone awake.
And you can toggle between them based on what room it’s in. The display update instantly when you press that button, so the modes switch without a pause.
The unit has a programmable humidity target level (the range is between 40 and 70 percent), which you typically want at about 50 percent, enough to make the air comfortable but not too dry. When it reaches that level, it shuts off. It won’t run until humidity increases again… Saving energy in the process.
It also has a timer function. You can set how long you want it to run. It can runs from one hour up to four hours. When the time runs out, it will turn itself off.
This lets you handle things before you leave the house. You can be sure the room is dried by the time you get home. So it’s pretty easy to schedule.
In testing, kids might enjoy pushing buttons. To keep them from making accidental adjustments, you can lock out the controls. Just push both the timer button and the humidity button simultaneously.
The control panel will then ignore casual touch inputs. Unlocking requires repeating the process.
22L Capacity
That’s the big draw. With a 22-liter tank, this thing can hold a pile of liquid. In tests, it took roughly six or eight hours to fill up the internal tank. It’ll depend on humidity level you want. It does keep track of changing conditions, and will work away at reaching that goal.
It collects water efficienty
Yes. It’s a big enough tank and doesn’t require constant emptying. But once it fills up, it will shut off until emptied out. So it’s not infinite. You have to manually pour out the water. It is not automated but it is manageable.
There’s also an option to continually drain through a hose. The hose attaches to the back of the unit and lets the water simply drain automatically.
That way you don’t have to concern yourself with it filling the tank. Just make sure your hose goes downhill and gravity takes over from there. It is a good choice for long-term use.
The build quality is solid.
It is heavy so it stays put.
The controls are intuitive.
The display is bright and easy to read.
No issues were encountered in testing.
Fan noise is acceptable across the board.
Dry Cloth mode is loud but effective.
So far I’m impressed with how accurately it reads humidity. It picked up on the change in the room quite effectively. As you can see it drops steadily by percentage over time. It also reacts to changes pretty quickly in your environment.
While it’s not a set and forget appliance (you’re still responsible for managing the water), the automation really makes a difference here.
Size matters, Because this tank is 22 liters, you aren’t filling it as often. No need to drain out a little bucket of water every hour. With a larger tank, there are fewer disruptions. The hose option removes that chore entirely. It depends on how you set it up, and either way works for you.
It’s good at handling moisture
Does what it’s supposed to do. Doesn’t fuss about it. Practical features that work as intended. Lock and timer functions are nice additions. Different modes is customizable.
There isn’t anything I dislike about my experience using it. Overall, it was a positive experience. As promised, it did its thing. It removed moisture effectively from the air. User interface was nice. Plug it in, turn it on, walk away. Nothing complicated here.
If you need something to remove moisture from the air, Xiaomi 22L does it well. It strikes a balance between usability and power. The large tank is a big plus. It has some flexible options for draining. I recommend it for rooms prone to humidity. It performs well. It has a simple design. It is worth it. I have no complaints. It is a solid option. Could of got it done.
