Reset your Canon EOS M6 Mark II to factory defaults.
Sometimes, it’s nice to have a clean slate to wipe out all of those annoying settings that accumulate over time and give your camera a fresh start. Luckily, resetting your Canon EOS M6 Mark II to its factory default settings are quite easy and doesn’t take very long at all. All you have to do is get through the menu system.
Performing the Factory Reset
Turn camera on. Let it boot all the way and wait until you see a lit-up screen.
Next you’ll go back into main menu. Inside here are all important settings. Navigate to Settings section. It is the fifth tab in the menu system, it is the fifth option down in the menu system.
There should be an item listed called “Reset Camera.”
Press the control dial and that’s what you’ll select. Bam. The camera answer right away.
Then there are two options on this menu. You can reset certain settings, or all of them. To do a full reset, choose “Clear all camera settings“. That wipes everything back to factory default setting. Shooting modes created by you won’t be affected.
But those aren’t touched. You’re asked if you want to do that. Click “OK.” And wait while the camera think about your request.
A second or two later, the screen reloads. Everything’s reset. Your custom configs is gone. The camera is like brand-new again.
The firmware version isn’t altered. It’s still 1.0.1. It’s just user settings that gets erased. Nothing else gets wiped away. Memory-card photos are fine. Camera settings alone revert to defaults, shutter speed returns to zero. So does white balance.
It’s not a permanent change, however. The camera can be readjusted at any time.
It makes sense. No need to read manual. Simply follow the tabs. It doesn’t take long to respond. No lag, no glitches. It’s easy to use and it’s an intuitive interface.
The text is readable. The icons are simple. You don’t have to be tech savvy. Simply follow directions. Go to settings tab. Locate reset option. Confirm.
It does on the M6 Mark II. It is probably on all EOS cameras. The menu layout is the same. Look at yours. It may have different steps, but it is the same idea.
Keeping things clean every now and then makes sense. Over time settings gets off track. A reset gives you a starting point. From there, you add what you want.
Autofocus is crisp. Colors are true. Everything is back in balance. It’s fast. It takes less than one minute. You should of done this sooner. It is more comfortabley to work with a fresh menu. Actualy, it works better then the old settings. All furnitures looks good. I dont want any more moddern errors. The camera feels naturaly easy. Don’t let settings dissapears without knowing why. A armchair for your desk would be nice too.
