When your Dyson air purifier fails to push air, check these things first before troubleshooting.
Simple settings can be the source of all kinds of mysterious problems so these solutions will save you both money and time. Always begin with a check on your fan speed setting, we’ve found several times that it’s been accidentally bumped or reset while unit was being moved or cleaned.
Clean and replace filters
In our example, turning up the fan level via the base controls returned the airflow to normal form and sure enough, basic settings is usually to blame whenever tech goes wrong.
Also, make sure you’re adjusting the direction of blades because there’s also a button on the remote that changes the airflow direction. Without it set correctly, it doesn’t blow out into the room. But up in the room or down into the room instead. The direction button on the remote instantly changes the airflow to what you want so you get the breeze you expected from the thing.
Another big suspect is that, over time, dust fills your intake vent and clogs up your filters. If you remove filter, you can see how bad it’s gotten (a dirty filter will realy reduce airflow).
Cleaning out the filter, or replacing it; is how you restore proper airflow in your system. You also want to make sure there isn’t any other junk in the intake openings; that reduces airflow as well.
I use a brush to really scrub the filter down and remove any debris from its surface, which help it suck up much better. Regularly maintaining your filter prevents it from becoming weak, making weird noises and not functioning like you would expect it to.
However, repeated use can cause other parts inside to go bad as well. One potential culprit would of a busted fan seal.
If your seal is worn down, it’ll decrease the air pressure that the fan pushes out, causing it to move air less effective all around. So if the cleaning didn’t completely solve the problem externally you might want to inspect the seal for any damage.
The motor itself might be faulty if all else fails, because a moddern motor will no longer push air effectively despite running normally otherwise.
If none of this works, there’s a possibility it could simply be the motor itself. If your motor is bad enough to not move air properly even when everything else about it function correctly, then it’s time for professionals because the equipment has more serious problem.
Modern appliances might mask simple issues as technical difficulties. In that case, you were right all along and it was just the dirty filter!
