With the Electrolux 2-in-1 washer dryer, you don’t have to carry your laundry back and forth from one appliance to another… Everything happens in one cycle: wash and dry.
Yet sometimes you might just want to dry your items. For example, maybe they were hand-washed or dried elsewhere but now you want them finished off in the dryer.
Setting Up Dry-Only Mode
Why run an entire wash cycle when all you realy need is a dry? That’s wasteful with energy and water, and also inefficient.
Electrolux’s appliance enables you to skip the wash altogether; simply choose the dry-only option without any additional accessory. It’s a very practical feature if you want to make product a regular part of your life. To begin, turn the dial to select your desired laundry program. Make sure to select a cycle with a drying function. For example, “Cottons” or “Mixed” is good choices, since they will trigger the correct hardware to tumble and heat items during the cycle.
Note that if you opt for a rinse-only selection, the dryer won’t be engaged, you’ll need to adjust the base program accordingly. The display indicates the estimated completion time of entire combined cycle (i.e., wash + dry).
Before adjusting anything else, know how long the total cycle will run, as the initial key move is to set the base program. Otherwise, all of the other buttons will be useless/inactive. Next, you find the Mode button on your control panel and you push it. This turns off the active part of the cycle. In other words, you press that button until the wash step is no longer shown in the sequence.
The dryer will then change its own settings and keep the drying function selected and active. This removes all those steps you don’t want, the washing steps. And leaves just the drying operation queued up. You’ll see it happen immediately and clearly on the display which will change to show you what has happened. Since the wash cycle is no longer active, all you have to do is select how long you wish to run it, which is done through the Time Dry button. Press the button to add or subtract minutes until you reach your desired drying time.
Each time you push the button, the screen will show the new time, providing exact control over the drying process. There are no hidden sensors doing work for you during this test, rather, you’re selecting an exact number of minutes based on your laundry load size. Because the time is manually set, there’s no uncertainty regarding its completion time. The next thing you look at carefully on screen is the total cycle time (which should match the drying time). So if those two don’t add up then you know that your cycle still includes washing, you keep tweaking until they do.
This way you can be sure there’s no washing left to do, and the machine will run in dry-only mode. It is a simple check but an important step.
If you screw this one up, then you’ll get an unnecessary wash cycle. The number checking avoids this completely and therefore saves resources AND time. A few other options are available close by on the control panel, buttons for things like temperature and spin speed. But regardless of whether or not you’re in dry-only mode, these settings can all be modified.
For this try, however, you keep things simple and stick to the function and timing. Other variables may impact drying efficiency, and sticking with the basics minimizes any opportunity for user error. It’s simpler, which means it’s also more easly repeatable.
Replicating the process is how you’ll understand what the machine does (and consistency is key here). Keeping it simple is going to serve your purposes best. After setting it to dry, ensuring the display is fine, and seeing the right time for drying only, you just need to watch the cycle begin as the drum turns and the heat engages. No more steps, no more phases, nothing hidden.
The screen has a highlight saying “Time Dry.” This lets you know your choice was noted. It also shows you where you will see confirmation of what the machine is doing. You know for certain it’s going to do what you think it should.
At each step along the way, the interface gives you very clear feedback without any ambiguity, you never have to guess what’s happening. That transparency in the display builds confidence in the process. Because it’s automated. Before you begin, double-check that the total time is exactly how long you want your items to dry. The cycle isn’t padded with any additional time for spin cycle and rinsing.
So it’s an efficient cycle, streamlined for just the drying process. That’s really valuable in an appliance, as it means you can quickly refresh items that are already clean without having to run a full cycle.
It’s great for finishing items that were dried elsewhere, too. And this feature will help you avoid unnecessary full cycles and is a clever use of technology. Finally you inspect the level of dryness setting, which on some machines can be adjusted from this point too. For ease of use you’ll leave it set to the default, and in general these machines are smart enough to know what to do with regular laundry.
If you over-customize, you run the risk of overheating or not drying all the way, so just stick with the basics and you’ll get good results every time.
At this point the final countdown appears on-screen and slowly the drum begins its turn. With a hum, the heating element kicks in and the rest of the process is quiet and smooth. The drum tumbles the clothes around gently as the cycle starts. There’s no water here, just warm air circulating steadily throughout the fabric.
The timer runs down to how long you’ve set. It’s predictable. It is a big feature of moddern appliances, and you always know exactly what time it’ll stop. This does exactly what it says and even more. It is easy and simple. They’re not wet at all once the cycle is finished and can be folded right away or even worn directly. The direct drying function is very efficient; there’s no trace of moisture on your clothes after the set time.
This helps save both electricity (a little bit less overall) and water (which would of gone down the drain during washing). Fewer things to do = lower utility bill.
So yeah, Electrolux is more than just a washer; it’s an all-in-one laundry solution, and having such flexibility is difficult to beat.
