Troubleshoot your Electrolux washer dryer combo. If your Electrolux washer/dryer combo are not spinning properly at high speed, here are some things you can check for.
But in truth it’s just as likely that a basic mechanical fault have stopped the drum rotating. The first step then is to carefuly work through the possibilities.
Checking Electronic and Draining Issues
Remove the rear cover of your machine and check the drive belt. If this isn’t tight or is broken, the drum will not turn properley. Check if it has snapped at one end, or whether it’s worn. Changing a faulty drive belt can be an instant cure as it reconnects motor to the drum.
Next, take a look at your drive motor as well. If it’s not functioning properly, the spin cycle won’t function correctly either since it will lack enough power. Look for any symptoms that indicate the motor is producing less than optimal power. When the motor is obviously weak, replacing it should of return things to normal operating condition. However, be sure to confirm this first.
It is not necessarily a mechanical problem. Sometimes it is just about checking that the door has been latched properly. If the washing machine doesn’t think the door is closed, then it won’t even attempt to begin the spin cycle.
Why? Because the latch locks the door and it is a safety feature of the machine. If something went wrong, like a latch failure, the machine would not enter the spin stage which could cause an accident. It’s easy and fast to check the latch mechanism to ensure everything look good before continuing on with your troubleshooting.
Lastly, be sure that when you start a spin cycle, it is actualy turning on its own. If not, this could mean springs and shock absorbers is worn out.
These items must securely attach the drum so it stays safe while spinning fast. This ensures the washer stays in one place. If they wear out, your washer will sense it’s off balance and stop but again new shocks/absorbers correct this issue.
Other electronic problems may cause spinout as well. Look for any burned out spots on your main control board or power module.
You can also easily spot burned-out electronics if you look closely with a flashlight. The electronics run all stages of the wash cycle so an easy fix is just to get a new board in some instances.
If you fail here it all comes to a screeching halt.
Lastly, inspect the draining system. Draining is a part of the programmed process that must occur for the spin cycle to begin. The washer does not need to spin the drum until most of the water have been emptied from the machine.
A properly working drain pump can make all the difference and this easy test may cure your strange spin problem.
The good thing about all of this is that it allows you to save time and money as opposed to calling in a tech for each issue. The simple stuff like checking latches, motors, and belts are easy, but then there’s electronic inspection which takes a little more care. Once everything is checked with correct drainage, you have your washer dryer back on track and it becomes moddern enough to handle daily load again.
