The Renpho massager gun has gained popularity, and while it’s a handy device, it lacks an easy-to-find reset button for when things go wrong. The power button won’t do anything more than power on or off your device, long press doesn’t work either. You cannot restore it to factory defaults using the power button.
If you find this perplexing, that’s understandable, as the problem require a bit of a hardware solution instead.
How to Perform a Hard Reset
The problem is with the internal circuit that holds those settings. If you want to really reset your massage gun, then remove the battery from any and every piece of electrical equipment. That kills the system entirely. All saved setting will be lost. It is simple but effective.
You won’t need an update. You’ll just have to pull it apart.
You do need to take care opening up the massage gun. The casing is secure, so you’ll need a strong grip to pry it open.
Using a small tool, split the two parts apart. After that, you’ll get a good look at the insides. There’s a USB port, screw holes, and the internal layout is visible. The power source is hidden from view.
To get in there, you’ve got to disassemble. Don’t worry, no release latches here… you’ve got to do some work.
A bit of careful pressure is typicaly all it takes.
And inside, it’s naked electronics time. Everything is on a circuit board. Find the battery connection first. This is the key to breaking the loop of power.
If you break that link between the board and the battery, it kills the whole thing in terms of power. Temporary memory wipes clean without power. All your settings dissapears.
Carefully remove the connection. It will go black right away. That is good. As long as that link isn’t there any more, the reset is done. There aren’t any menu to move through or buttons to press.
And then it was just pure electricity.
Putting it all back together is simple enough. Reattach the wires to the white connector on the board. Red and yellow snap right back in place.
All of the capacitors, resistors and circuit boards remains untouched. The green circuit board looks like nothing was ever done to it. You gently close up the case. On the outside, the massage gun appear as good as new.
And it’s good to go.
That brings us back to square one. Resetting the device returns it to its initial factory settings. You do not have to wait on support or send it in. In some cases, the most drastic solution is also the easiest.
Resetting electronics always starts with cutting the power. It’s an absolute reset, leaving no room for software glitches. And you might be surprised at how little time it takes.
Disassembling the thing isn’t as bad as it sounds. All you need is something to screw and something to pry.
For those looking for this functionality, it’s a pretty good workaround since it is missing. Yes, Renpho could certainly include a button. But they didn’t. You should of make do with what you’ve got.
