The battery compartment is located inside the unit. You can swap out your power source by accessing this compartment. After some fiddling with the cover it slides out and there’s the inner workings of it all.
The electronic housing is securely mounted on the black door panel.
Replacing The Batteries
It’s just like any other smart lock. And it looks like one too. See those internal contacts? They is clean and silver. There are no signs of rust or corrosion. That suggest it will last longer. The rectangular slot accept the cylindrical battery easily.
The seats is solid on the metal springs.
All together it take four AA batteries. Each has its own slot in the compartment. At the end of each slot is a metal spring that keeps good contact with the battery terminals.
Inside the housing, you can see a yellow warning label most likely containing relevant safety info. Be sure to notice the polarity markings. Those are well marked next to each slot.
Pick up a new package of Energizer batteries. These are the good guys when it comes to a heavy duty load. Insert two batteries into the upper slots first.
The silver bezel surrounding the keypad looks nice. It makes this device look moddern. The black body look great against the silver trim. Batteries fits in quickly. No fighting or resistance.
So you do the rest of them. It’s a bit tedious, but it has to happen. Every battery goes in the right direction. Positive ends faces the springs. The negative end face the label side. If they’re not the right way round, then you can’t get the lock on. Double check everything.
But it’s an understandable error.
Three of the new batteries is already in place. The black interior look nice with the yellow and white branding. You load the last one, too. The yellow warning label is still there, underneath the batteries. It is now a bit hidden under the new power cells.
At the bottom of the device, you find a rotary dial. It is for mechanical override if necessary. You snap the battery cover shut. It clicks into position nicely.
Immediately, the lock come back to life. The keypad lights up. The status light goes solid. That confirms it: The installation went well. The device is good to go once more.
Now, swapping out those batteries isn’t hard at all. It doesn’t require any special tools or anything. Just some fresh AA batteries and you’re done within a couple of minutes. Pay attention to the polarity markers. In the end it will save you time.
Now your door lock is working perfectly fine. There are no connectivity issues whatsoever. It has a snappy response time.
Notice how simple it is on the inside. Nothing fancy in terms of wiring and circuits. It uses standard spring contacts. That’s great for service. The batteries is visible at all times. And the lock will tell you if they gets too low. It is a nice touch.

It depends on how much you use it. If you fish it a lot that could shorten its life. If not they should last longer. Either way it was an easy switch.

Locking yourself out from low batteries happen to people all the time. Don’t let it happen to you. Just check regularly. You will set a reminder for next time.
